Mission Statement

As the numbers of women students, faculty and staff increase at Michigan Tech, it is important that the University’s policies, procedures and actions encourage and remove barriers to active participation by all persons regardless of religion, color, national origin, height/weight, veteran’s status, marital status, sexual orientation, age or sex (except where age or sex is a bona fide occupational qualification, or disability). The Presidential Commission for Women (PCW) provides a forum for dialogue about gender related issues and investigates methods to help improve the environment for women in the campus community. The Commission regularly reports on University progress, makes recommendations regarding implementation of policies and procedures, and acts in an advisory capacity to the University President. The Commission will communicate and cooperates with other groups on campus which are concerned with human relations/social justice issues as well as various University departments.
